URRAS TAC CHALANAIS  CHAIRMAN`S REPORT 2016

Having come to our 10th Annual General Meeting, the Chairman and Committee of Urras Tac Chalanais take this opportunity to thank all members for their ongoing support in the development of the land gifted to us, Tac Chalanais.

CAMPING PODS

Despite a slower start to the season, we brought in a total income of £9815.87, an increase of £140.57 on last year.  We would also like to apologise for a misprint in last year`s Chairman`s report showing the total income as £9765.30 when it should have been £9675.30.

The pods continue to be very popular, with some guests returning year after year and we hold a 9.4/10 rating on Pitch Up and have also received positive comments on Trip Advisor.

The committee is again grateful to Ruaraidh Macleod for his continued help on the site.

ANIMAL GRAZING

We intend to form a sub-committee to deal with this matter and anyone wishing to help out on this committee should speak to one of the committee members.

NEW WEBSITE

Our new website is now managed by Judy Macdonald from She Online, who has combined the Callanish Camping & Callanish Farm Trust sites and given them a fresh modern look.  If you wish to be updated on UTC activities please access our website at www.callanishcamping.co.uk

ONGOING PROJECTS

We applied to get planning permission for path lighting, caravan/camper van pitch and re-siting of the toilet block but Historic Scotland informed us that they would be likely to object to this.  We have a provisional date of 28th April for a site visit with their representative to look at viable options.

FOOTPATH

The footpath is continuing to be an ongoing problem which we shall be discussing with Historic Scotland at our forthcoming site visit.

FINANCE

Our bank balance currently stands at £11,143.17.  Anyone wishing to view the accounts please  see Angus Smith (treasurer)

HANDYMAN

We have employed a handyman for the Pod site only, initially for a year on a project basis

ELECTION

One person has resigned from the Board of Directors this year, namely James P.D. Falconer Flint, and the board would like to thank him for all his contributions as secretary/vice-chairman.  We have received 2 nominations, Donald Macleod, 7 Callanish and Leslie Macleod, 9 Callanish, whom we welcome onto the committee.

We look to you as the residents of Callanish to support the Committee in their aspirations and also to bring your own views or ideas to any member of the committee for discussion at their meetings.  Remember it is your land!

Chairman (James Crossley)
